Prof. Hans-Christoph Pape, MD, has been Chief Physician at the Department of Trauma Surgery at the University Hospital Zurich and Full Professor of Trauma Surgery at the University of Zurich's Faculty of Medicine since 2017.
Previously, Prof. Pape held the position of Chief Physician at the Clinic for Traumatology in Aachen (2009 to 2016); between 2005 and 2009, he was Chief Physician of Trauma Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre (UPMC) in Pittsburgh, USA. He also holds the European Specialist (FEBS) and US Specialist (FACS) qualifications.
He is a specialist in surgery, trauma surgery, orthopaedics and trauma surgery. He studied and obtained his doctorate at Hannover Medical School. His areas of expertise include geriatric traumatology, polytrauma, pelvis and hip joints.
He is co-founder of the AUC Master Course in Geriatric Traumatology and also organised the Geriatric Traumatology Congress in Zurich, which was the first such event to be held outside Germany.
Prof. Hans-Christoph Pape, MD, is the lead author of more than 90 scientific articles and co-author of over 400. He is the editor of seven textbooks. His current H-index is 83 (Research Gate Score 50.43). He is editor for Injury and senior editor for Open Access Emergency Medicine.
