Gregor Freystätter completed his specialist training in internal medicine in Austria and the USA, followed by a fellowship in geriatric medicine at the University of Miami. From 2015 to 2023, he worked at the Clinic for Geriatric Medicine at the USZ, first as a senior physician and, from 2018, as deputy clinic director to Prof. Dr. med. Heike Bischoff-Ferrari and as team leader for geriatric medicine at the Centre for Geriatric Traumatology (ATZ).
Since 2024, he has been Senior Physician at the University Clinic for Geriatric Medicine at Zurich City Hospital and is responsible for the Geriatric Outpatient Clinic at Triemli, where fall and osteoporosis assessments are carried out. His scientific interests include interdisciplinary treatment models in geriatric traumatology and fracture liaison services, as well as falls as a major geriatric problem and osteoporosis in older people.
