8^th Swiss Orthogeriatrics Day 2026 in Winterthur

Working Together for Better Geriatric Orthopedics – A Look Back at the 8th Swiss Orthogeriatrics Day.

On September 15, 2026, the 8th Swiss Orthogeriatrics Day took place at the Winterthur Cantonal Hospital. The event once again brought together specialists from various disciplines and vividly demonstrated how vibrant and dedicated the Swiss orthogeriatrics community is.

The focus was on current issues regarding elective joint replacement in older adults, the treatment of periprosthetic fractures, and the interdisciplinary preparation and follow-up care for older patients. A keynote presentation provided valuable insights into how to successfully implement well-founded risk stratification in geriatric orthopedics. Practical workshops, engaging case discussions, and numerous one-on-one conversations rounded out the diverse program. The day once again made it clear: The complex challenges of geriatric orthopedics can only be overcome by working together.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Winterthur Cantonal Hospital for hosting the event, to all speakers and workshop leaders, and to all participants who contributed to the success of the 8th Swiss Orthogeriatrics Day with their expertise, experience, and dedication.

We look forward to continuing this interdisciplinary exchange together. See you soon in September 2027 at the Baselland Cantonal Hospital, where the main theme will be prevention.
